The rights of people with variations of sex development (intersex people), including the right to physical integrity, bodily autonomy, access to information, legal recognition, and freedom from discrimination, are violated daily in Russia and other countries. This practice tremendously affects the well-being of intersex people and their opportunities to thrive.
This is happening because of the low awareness of society, governmental bodies, and assisting professionals about intersex people, their characteristics and needs, as well as the lack of access of intersex people to adequate medical, psychological, legal, and other support.
We believe that increasing promoting and protecting the rights of intersex people, as well as informing, consulting, and education on intersex issues will improve the well-being of intersex people in our region.
