The Association of Russian Speaking Intersex (ARSI) has presented a List of Issues for evaluation of the observance by the Russian Federation compliance with the obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights within the framework of the 129th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Committee. ARSI raises questions of the Russian State’s responsibility for sex-“normalizing” medical interventions without personal, voluntary, prior, and fully informed consent of intersex people, as well as human rights violations related to the registration or change of the legal gender marker for intersex people.
