Regulations Governing the Organization and Execution of the “Truth” Award for Outstanding Publications on Intersex Topics
General Framework, Purposes, and Objectives
- These regulations delineate the procedures for the organization and execution of the “Truth” Award, henceforth referred to as the Award, intended to recognize exceptional publications addressing intersex topics.
- The Award is bestowed upon authors whose works contribute significantly to the discourse on intersex individuals, highlighting their needs and challenges.
- The Award aims to elevate societal awareness regarding intersex issues by incentivizing comprehensive and respectful media coverage of such topics.
- This initiative is spearheaded by the Association of Russian Speaking Intersex (ARSI), with the backing of NFP+.
Participation, Submission, and Evaluation Procedures
- Entries must be submitted within the designated timeframe via the electronic registration form available at: —https://forms.gle/7iHYW1jxWx8urtHU8
- The competition is open to articles published in Russian language in professional mass media outlets between February 1 and October 26, 2024.
- Submissions, including the accompanying journalistic work, must align with the ethical guidelines and best practices outlined in the manual “How to Write About Intersex?“.
- Entries should be predicated on direct interactions and dialogue with intersex persons or their families.
- There is no fee required for participation in the Award.
Expert Council and Evaluation
- An Expert Council will be constituted to evaluate the submissions. This council will comprise organizers of the Award, esteemed members of the journalistic community, and specialists from organizations supportive of intersex rights.
- The assessment criteria will focus on the publication’s quality, depth, and relevance; adherence to the principles and ethical guidelines set forth in these regulations and the aforementioned manual; and alignment with the goals and values of the intersex advocacy movement.
Prize Allocation
- The Award’s prize fund totals 40,000 rubles. Following the review of submissions, the Expert Council will allocate this fund among the articles that best meet the selection criteria, based on the merits of their publication.
