The U.S. Department of State has released a report on the human rights situation in Russia for 2019. We are pleased to note that the report discusses violations of the rights of intersex people in our country and mention our organization’s work. “The Association of Russian Speaking Intersex reported that medical specialists often pressured intersex persons (or their parents, if they were underage) into having so-called normalization surgery without providing accurate information about the procedure or what being intersex means.”
